Kathleen O’Leary’s Biography
As a visual artist O’Leary’s artworks are multidisciplinary in nature that include Drawing, Painting, Video, Installation, Photography and Interactive Media.
She screened ‘Second Sight | Site’, during ‘Second Sait’, a group show at The Leitrim Sculpture Centre, selected for Corina Fastnet Short International Film Festival in Schull West Cork, May, at ‘Mercurial’ for The Five Glens Arts Festival, Manorhamilton, August and ‘Saloon’ at Catalyst Arts Members show, Belfast. Uk.
In 2013 O’Leary screened her short film ‘Second Sight | Site’ during the exhibition One of her shorts was screened for Culture Night with MART’s ‘We Wear Short Shorts’ Dublin 2013 and Riverside Studios – The Irish Film Festival London, 2012.
She launched her second solo show ‘Fifth Wheel Element Project’ at Pallas Projects, Dublin 2013.
She was an invited selection to the 183rd RHA Annual Exhibition for her sculptural piece`Resonance of Geometry’, 2013.
Her digital print was toured with ‘The Peace Project’ with The Whole 9, exhibiting in Oakland, CA, USA.
One of her sketchbooks was included in KRF:1 Artist Notebook Project, Droichead Arts Centre and Riverbank Arts Centre, Kildare.
Her solo show ‘Open Book | Leabhar Oscailte’, was exhibited at The Working Artists Studio/Gallery, West Cork 2012. She has also exhibited at Higher Bridges Gallery, Enniskillen, Tower Museum Derry City Council Heritage and Museum, ADF Gallery Belfast, Newcastle Artists Society’s, CityBase, Uk.
In 2009 one of her digital prints ‘Ode to Grandmother’ was included in ‘Impossible Exchange’, PS1, Frieze Art Fair, London, UK.
She has also exhibited at The Model, Sligo and The Leitrim Design House in 2005.
O’Leary took part in the Locis.eu Residency including participating in and attending symposiums in Ireland, Sweden and Poland.
She also took part in the symposium ‘Pathways to Practice’, at the Glucksman Gallery, UCC, with the Fire-Station Artist Studios, Dublin and Arts and Disability Ireland 2013.
In 2012 she was selected for the artists residency with Victoria Vesna and Anna Macleod amongst others with the Well-Beings Project.
She was lead artist, facilitator, project director, for the project ‘Liminality; Different Views/Viewing Difference, A cross-border initiative between (’06-’12).
Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, is held in private and public collections.
